Spent the evening sitting in the bar listening to a live àrtist giving Daddy Cool, John Denver, Ed Sherin and others his best shot - he was actually pretty good! Slept quite well - boat must have rocked me to sleep.
I didn't see a thing as I drove towards Deloraine - everything was shrouded in rain and it persisted all day.
Nevertheless, I thought a stroll down memory lane was needed so I visited Mole Creek, my first posting. My classroom, indeed the old school was gone, consolidated in the primary school. Other then that - the town looked the same.
Following breakfast I drove up the old highway through charming villages and hawthorn hedgerows - habitat for myriads of little birds. Hedgerows still divide many paddocks around the area and most have been carefully maintained. The stone and weatherboard cottages often with gorgeous gardens haven't changed either. Really a step back in time.
Rain was torrential by the time I reached Entally House near Hadspen - I used to visit regularly - it is more beautiful than I remember. Heaps of money (not National Trust) has been poured in not just to the house but the gardens and parkland. A vollie showed me round - obviously loving the stories of the house and it's history.
The walked garden.

Gracious times
After lunch at an old favourite (still going istrong with same floor tiles) I headed off to Swansea on the East coast - as part of the adventure I am trying a backpackers. Clean and quiet, and not many people staying, mostly girls and a young family. I have my own room but not sure it is for me - maybe a motel with an ensuite and better pillows is adventure enough! STILL raining! Hope weather improves for Sunday!
